We are pleased to announce that Prevent Blindness America has been awarded a Maternal and Child Health Bureau grant to establish the National Center for Children’s Vision and Eye Health. The mission of the center is to develop a public health infrastructure to promote and ensure a continuum of eye care for young children within the healthcare delivery system.
Illinois has been chosen as one of five states to implement the grant and contribute to the national center. We are excited about this opportunity to convene vision champions and statewide leaders to review current practices of vision screening and exams, to identify current systems and gaps, and to develop programs and/or systems to assure children receive the care they need.
We would be honored if you would join us for a launch meeting to inaugurate this effort. Your knowledge and expertise of current systems or resources and the need of Illinois’ children will help us formulate the direction of this project.
